Brian has a proven track record of prosecuting patent applications globally and advocating for robust patent rights on behalf of his clients. Building on his foundation as an electrical engineer, he is passionate about learning new technologies and collaborating with engineers and scientists to identify, expand and protect the inventions they develop.
Brian previously served as an in-house patent agent with The Coca-Cola Company where he managed the development and maintenance of the global equipment patent portfolio. He also gained experience in managing a global design patent portfolio. In addition, he initiated and led patent review committees, developed training materials and led in-person training sessions, monitored competitive patent portfolios, and advised on patent risks as part of the development and design review process. He also developed foreign filing strategies that lead to a reduction in the number of countries where applications are filed while preserving a desired level of protection.
He previously served as a Patent Agent at an intellectual property law firm, where he gained experience in managing a patent prosecution docket of several hundred applications and trained professionals in patent prosecution. He worked in technical areas including telecommunication systems and networks, semiconductor testing, software, search algorithms, oilfield technologies and pet products.
Brian served as a patent examiner with the U.S. Patent Trademark Office in which he examined cases involving digital imaging circuits and image processing.
