Meunier Carlin & Curfman, LLC is pleased to announce that Tony Askew and Steve Schaetzel have each been selected as a 2015 Georgia Super Lawyer. They have been named a “Super Lawyer” every year since the list’s inception.  Additionally, David Moreland has been selected as a Rising Star.  All nominated attorneys were selected in the areas Intellectual Property Litigation, showing the depth of the firm’s litigation practice.

The attorneys are nominated based on evaluation of several factors, including peer recognition, representative clients, experience, honors and awards, pro bono activity, positions with the bar, as well as other achievements. Inclusion on the list is limited to only 5% of the lawyers per jurisdiction.

Tony Askew, widely thought of as the “dean” of the patent bar in Atlanta, has more than 40 years of experience litigating patent, trademark and copyright cases across the U.S., including appearances before the United States Supreme Court and the United States International Trade Commission. He has served as the Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Georgia for intellectual property matters since 1983.

Steve Schaetzel’s experience includes more than 100 IP cases, and he has served as lead counsel before both trial and appellate courts. Further, Steve is also experienced before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, having been involved in dozens of oppositions.

His successes include defense verdicts and multiple favorable outcomes for clients in fields such as payment systems, business methods, semiconductors, computers, mobile devices and software. David is also well versed in inter partes review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
