Miles E. Hall D.V.M.

Biography

Miles has a doctorate in veterinary medicine and has been working as an intellectual property attorney since 2003. Miles’ legal practice focuses on all aspects of patent prosecution, portfolio management, due diligence, and opinions in biotechnology, medical technology, and medical devices.

Miles measures his accomplishments by the success of his clients. He represents numerous early and growth stage biomedical and medical device companies, many of which he has strategically guided from inception to exit. Two representative clients had successful exits by acquisition, where each exit event was valued in excess of $60 million. Miles also has significant experience representing venture capital and angel investors in making life science investments. In addition, Miles has developed valuable university-based intellectual property portfolios and represents several university systems in protecting their licensed patents.

An active member of the southeastern bioscience community, Miles has served as a company mentor at both Southeast Bio and the Southeastern Medical Device Association (SEMDA) for early stage medical device companies selected to present to venture capitalists. He also has served on the planning committee for SEMDA’s annual conference for medical device companies and speaks frequently on intellectual property due diligence as it relates to medical devices.

He previously held research positions in virology, neurobiology, and orthopedics at the Duke University Medical Center and the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine.

In addition to his DVM and JD degrees, he also holds a Certificate in Law and Business Management from Vanderbilt’s School of Law and its Owen School of Business Management. Miles was named a Georgia Super Lawyer Rising Star in 2006 and again in 2009 and 2013.
