Biography

Mitchell counsels clients through all stages of patent prosecution, from drafting applications to managing extensive intellectual property portfolios. He has experience representing global corporations, innovative startups, and individual inventors, tailoring strategies to meet a wide range of business and technical goals. He drafts and prosecutes patent applications through effective collaboration with inventors, in-house counsel, and Patent Examiners. His practice also includes preparing patentability, infringement, and freedom-to-operate analyses.

In addition to his patent work, Mitchell assists clients with contract drafting, including confidentiality, technology development, and licensing-related agreements. He has also supported a major corporate client through a secondment, where he worked in-house on intellectual property matters and gained valuable perspective on aligning IP strategy with broader business objectives.

Earlier in his career, Mitchell worked with the University of Georgia’s Innovation Gateway, where he negotiated and drafted license agreements for the school’s plant and agricultural technologies. While in law school, he served as Articles Editor on the Georgia Law Review and was a member of the Intellectual Property Law Society. He also participated in the Public Interest Practicum, where he provided legal advice to underserved populations in Athens, Georgia.
